12/11/2013 0 Comments Loves True PowerI have been exploring some of the negative emotions and how they are caused and how they affect us. Today I am going to be looking at the most powerful of the emotions and that is love. I am going to assume that you have experienced it at some point or another and would you agree that when you are in love you have more energy than you know what to do with? You can stay up all night and still get a hard day’s work done the next day. So why is this and how does it work. I am most likely going to ruffle some people’s feathers and then this is my blog and as I have said these theories are mine and I have tested them in my life and found them to work. I believe that the being some call God, Allah, Jehovah, the Universe (etc.) is essentially the energy of love. When you are open to it and allow it to flow through you (as you do when you are “in love”) then you have ready access to it and you are more energized. When you experience a negative emotion like fear, pain, hurt, doubt, or anger you pull your own energy in towards yourself in a defensive manner and close yourself off from love. This can be demonstrated physically in the blow example. There is a wonderful book “E2” by Pam Grout. In it she explains how to get two metal coat hangers and straighten them out, bending the one end to make handles. Then get 2 straws and put the “handles” into these straws. Now hold the straws with the metal in out in front of you elbows bent with your hands facing each other about 30cm apart, ensuring that the metal is free to swing. Now think of something that happened to you that was very upsetting and see how the wire moves. Now do this again and instead of the negative memory think of a time that you experienced great happiness and watch what happens to the wire. I was amazed when I did this as when I thought of a negative event the wires moved in towards each other and across my body and when I thought of a positive memory they opened up and spread out. It shows physically what we experience emotionally. It also has a greater implication as it shows that what we feel affects the physical world we live in. There is another experiment that I would like to share with you. Unfortunately I don’t remember where I heard of it. You will need a partner. Now stand facing each other with your hands out in front of you, elbows bent, fingers straight and palms facing each other. One of you place your hands on the outside and the other have their hands on the inside. The person on the inside just has to resist the person on the outside as strongly as they can both times. These instructions are for the person on the outside 1 – Force your hands together as strongly as you can Now, before you do this again think of a really happy memory where you really experienced love. Step into that memory; remember what you could smell, what you could hear and how your skin felt, what you could taste, and what you could see. Now while still holding that thought 2 – Push your hands together as strongly as you can. I have done this with many people and with the exception 2 pairs they all experienced that same thing; that when you are in a positive space it is easier to push someone’s hands together, it is almost as if they can’t resist. Have you heard of the Secret in case you haven’t it is a book that claims to know the secret to success and wealth. I have played around with the laws in the secret and I have found that the only time I am able to really be the source of amazing things happening in my life is when I am in a state of what I call love. This can be reached in a number of ways. 1. As in the experiment above by stepping into a memory of when I felt this way before. 2. Gratitude. To be truly grateful. It is amazing what you can find to be grateful for if you try. The people who built the road we drive on, the people who grew the food that we eat, the people who built the car you drive, mined the material to build the car etc. 3. Letting go of all negative thoughts and allowing love You will know when you have achieved it as your chest will feel warm and like it has grown and expanded. Unfortunately we are not taught this and what a lot of people are waiting for is someone or something to create the feeling for them. What they don’t realise is that true power lies in being able to create the feeling for yourself. Otherwise what you have done is give the other person power over you as you will need them and rely on them to create the feeling. The saying I have coined for personal power is “Power is the ability of a human to hold space for it’s being” and what I mean by this is that we give away our power to circumstances and other people, you are only truly powerful when you can maintain who you choose to be in spite of external circumstances. Examples of this are Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa. I also love the following example. For most people isolation is the very worst punishment. Yet for a Buddhist monk it is heaven. What this means to me is that for those that know how love and happiness can be created anywhere, and they need no one and nothing to be in a place of love. A few years ago I decided that instead of fighting the traffic and getting upset and angry with all the other drivers I would let others in and be courteous whenever I could. What I found was that more and more drives seemed to be courteous towards me!! Whether this was just my imagination I don’t know but I certainly enjoyed it more!!! Remember that like any growth, practice creates expertise so please use the experiments and go forth and LOVE with all your heart. Eternal love Britt
